*TRIBUTE TO DEACON JOHN AYANTUNDE OYEDEPO (JP) AT THE FUNERAL AND THANKSGIVING SERVICE HELD IN ISANLU ISIN ON Friday,19th NOVEMBER,2021*

I am compelled to write this tribute on john as I usually called him so that that those who do not know him will not continue to guess who he was.
His humanity is unparalleled. Issues that will make others burst into flames, he will calm you down with smile. He was kind to a fault making people believe that he was created with milk of kindness by his creator.
He has no tolerance for ineptitude and corruption. An attribute he used when he led the baptist church, Minna, Niger State without any blemish as a deacon of the church for many years.
His sense of justice is high and his views on issues are well balanced. He was a peace-maker of an uncommon dimension with elastic dimension and tolerance. A penchant for accountability however small the money may be. An epitome of diligence. It is good bye.
*Who is this man late john ayantunde oyedepo (jp)?*
I knew him from his birth having come from the same family. He is called “Omo Baba Alaso”. After his school days, he joined the Nigerian Railways to work and retired. He worked on his own as a contractor and was successful.
All along, I was getting in touch with him more regularly when I retired from service in 1984. Anytime I was away in Minna, my hotel room is in his house. He retired comfortable in his house in Ilorin.
We, isanlus, created a good habit of going home for Christmas celebration, family meetings, prayers and social functions. We planned to meet at home In 2020 December but you were unable to make it. This was the beginning of your home going.you departed from us without any message on 30th August 2021. To God be the glory.
As humans beings death is inevitable, we take solace in the biblical injunction in Eccl. 3:1-4; “ There is a season and time for everything under the earth. A time to be born and a time to die……” Therefore, I take consolation in the believe that you are resting in the bosom of the Lord. Adieu, Omo Okimoye, Omo Baba Alaso, Sun re o!

    *TO MY HERO*
Words cannot express the void i feel in my heart knowing that i will not see you anymore. you have always been there, and being supportive.
Thank you daddy for flourishing our home with happiness, warmth and unconditional love. It’s so hard to imagine you are no longer with us. You have been such a great Man and one of the greatest icons of our time.
Your kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness and honesty are the key values that I admire the most about you and I believe they are the reason behind your legendary status.
you were a peace maker, in all situations you believed in making peace and getting along with those affected.
Your legacy remains a blessing to the people you left. We will never forget your dry jokes, words of wisdom and how you worked so hard to advance God’s kingdom

To me, you were the best dad of all time. Maybe this is the reason why the pain of losing you is just too heavy for me to carry

When I was a child, all problems had ended with a single word from my father. A smile from him was sunshine, his scowl a bolt of thunder. He was smart, generous, and honorable without fail.
you sacrificed a lot for us to live a better life, you work tirelessly so that you can be able to pay our school fees, pay bills and feed us all with our friends, not once did i ever hear you complaining that the yoke was too much. maybe in your secret place you did, but to us you will always remain a HERO.

The sudden death Of grandpa has brought me to the understanding of what Paul says in Philippians 1:21 that “for me to live is Christ and to die is gain.O grandpa, I miss you so much. The Emptiness of the space you have left in our lives is so deep it will be difficult to fill you left without saying goodbye for this reason we peer longingly into light and darkness hoping for a last glimpse so that even as you rest in peace, we may also find peace. But also we do not see you, so we console ourselves that because you lie in thebossom for the Lord, we shall see you again. Granddad you were a wonderful living experience. To us your grandchildren, you were a grandfather, a mentor, a councilor and a pillar of support all rolled into our lives So strong and certain was your hand in showing us the way that as we grew up, we thought that every grandfather was like you. But we discovered in conclusion that there were grandfathers, and there were indeed grandfathers. Your rich experience of life and its different cultures filled our home with exoticstories. This ensured that we constantly gathered around your feet. All grandchildren love stories, and we were no exception. Our ears tingled, our headsstood on end, our noses twitched, and our eyes stayed wide open.…..In paying tribute to our grandpa, we sincerely wish to praise the name of our Lord God Almighty a wonderful grandpa. We will remember you as a living, vital presence and your memory will bring refreshment to our hearts and strengthen us in times of troubleGrandpa

WITH THE DEMISE OF DN J A OYEDEPO: WISDOM HAS DEPARTED.

When on the 30th day of August, I saw the lifeless body of my brother; Dn John Ayantude Oyedepo on the stretcher to be deposited in the mortuary, at the General Hospital Ilorin; I knew wisdom has departed.

Before he became a family man, we called him Boda Ayan. He was highly witty, full of wisdom and knowledgeable in tradition, history and culture of our family. Who now is educated and will fill that gap? Who is an educated and close to our roots that knows, fully our oruki?

As a result of his Education and being so grounded in our history he was in the best position to transfer the knowledge of our history to generations. We thought he would stay longer and that we had time for further relationships with him. I doubt if we had enough of information from my brother before the cold hand of death snatched this special breed of Okimoye from us.

He was a great home and community builder. He was a pillar behind our Okimoye Association. The only lasting tribute we can pay to the departed soul is our annual meeting should not only continue but should be intensified.

We are happy that his religiously eventful life led many to Christ. With this, am sure he will have a place with the Lord.

Adieu, adieu, adieu; the cock has crowed and the saints will meet with my brother at the feet of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Your brother,
Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo mourns with his family.

    TO THE BEST DAD
My Dad was the most honourable man I have ever known, he was an incredibly loving husband, an amazing father, warmth, kindness with a wonderful sense of humour (Accountability was his keyword). A man of honour and dignity who had a lot of strengths to face challenges of life with confidence and wisdom in settling disagreements between families and friends who never let a second party to intervene in our family affairs.
Daddy loved all of us his children equally, he was our strength, pillar of support, spiritual father, our prayer warrior, and he was the man that gave us the best the world could ever give (thank you for being there for us). Thank you for being an earthly example of the love of what we expect to learn of God. Thank you Daddy for being such a good father, such a good friend, and such a good listener, every day, even the worst of it, thank you for teaching us how to love and more importantly thank you for giving out yourself in so many ways to guide and nurture us in our spiritual lives.
Although life doesn’t last forever, love is eternal, love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone as ‘’they are not dead who live in the hearts they leave behind’’ for your memories will keep walking beside me and I am so grateful for all the company we had shared.
The legacy of heroes is the memory of a great name and the inheritance of a great example as your legacy will never be forgotten.

    A BEAUTIFUL SOUL

My heart is broken. We have loss a great man, a great father, a great husband, a compassionate and loving human being. The Oyedepo family have been a family friend of the Adeniran family since I was a child. Daddy has shown my family tremendous love and support. He was someone families go to in time of need and he was always there with open hands.
I got to know this incredible man even deeper in 1987, when he allowed me to move into his house after my family left for a foreign land. Living under the same roof, it allowed me to see what a wonderful and incredible family man he was. He worked extremely hard to support his family and extended family members. We spent a lot of time together on the farm. I looked forward to those times. It was a bonding moment between us his children and daddy. Roasting yams and maize with daddy, those were special moments. Sitting around the fire in a circle talking and joking amongst ourselves showed a softer and tender side of daddy. These are moments I will cherish till my dying day.
He was a true servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. He preached and lived by the Bible. I always looked forward to the times daddy was to preach at church. He used short stories to captivate his congregation in order to get his points across. He would use short choruses and dance moves has his opening theme. Watching him dance was a treat and a blessing. I learn to dance by watching him and pretty much copied his dance moves. In our house, God was first and nightly prayer meeting was mandatory. He genuinely and truly loved the Lord.
My son is named after you daddy. To serve as constant reminder of the impact and influence you had on my life. I am forever grateful for the Oyedepo family. Rest easy daddy. I will continue your legacy.
